Recent figures from the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations show that some fields in the construction industry have especially bright futures. In the publication that outlines the predicted growth in all major occupations across Australia, the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations provides a listing of the jobs predicted to enjoy the largest percentage increase in job growth through to 2017.
Coming in at number three on the list was electrical work. The Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations estimates that there will be a 23.8 per cent increase in the demand for electricians during the projected time frame. Only nursing and positions working with the ageing and disabled are predicted to grow more rapidly.
Demand for carpenters is also predicted to increase dramatically from now until at least 2017. These trades ranked eighth on the list and are expected to grow by 14.2 per cent.
With the need for electricians and carpenters predicted to grow so much in just the next few years, employment prospects are very favourable. In order to work in any of these trades here in New South Wales, prospective construction workers will first need to obtain the necessary certification.
