Details/Requirements

When an Asbestos Supervisor is Required

According to the clause 228 of the WorkSafe VIC Compliance Code ‘Removing Asbestos in the Workplace’:

  • for friable asbestos (Class A) removal work, licensed removalists must ensure the site supervisor is on site for the entire time during the removal
  • for non-friable asbestos (Class B) removal work,licensed removalists must ensure the site supervisor is on-site or accessible for the entire time during the removal (if the site supervisor is contactable by phone and able to arrive at the removal site within 20 minutes, this would be regarded as ‘accessible’).

Asbestos Safety Supervisor training covers the following topics:

  • Generate an Asbestos Removal Plan
  • Prepare worksite for Asbestos Removal
  • Supervise asbestos testing, documentation, and compliance
  • Supervise and support team members
  • Supervise safe removal of asbestos
  • Supervise decontamination of workers and equipment
  • Ensure strict compliance of legislation and WHS processes

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive:

  • National Statement of Attainment (which is issued on the day of training)
  • Plastic wallet size card (which will be mailed after the course)

Course Requirements

1. CURRENT WHITE CARD
Participants must hold CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry qualification. Statement of the Attainment or the plastic Construction Induction card (also known as the white card) MUST be presented on the day of training as a proof of qualification.

Please note that the old coloured cards (Victorian red card, NSW green card etc) issued prior to May 2009 CANNOT be used as they do not validate that the person was assessed against CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry unit of competency.

ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED if participant DOES NOT present current white card. Edway Training offers White Card training course throughout the week from 3 different location (Melbourne, Sunshine, Hallam). For more information, please visit our White Card page.

2. IDENTIFICATION
Participants MUST provide one form of photo I.D. (e.g. passport, Australian driver’s licence, proof of age card, student card). STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED if participants do not provide a valid form of I.D.

3. ATTENDANCE
Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary registration paperwork. ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED if participants arrive 30 minutes after the scheduled starting time.

4. BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE
To complete the course assessment, the basic understanding of reading and writing English is required. THE TRAINER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY TO THE COURSE based on the outcome of the Language, Literacy and Numeracy test which is available to all participants.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive:

  • National Statement of Attainment (which is issued on the day of training)
  • Plastic wallet size card (which will be mailed after the course)

According to the clause 88 of the WorkSafe Victoria’s Compliance Code “Removing asbestos in the workplace”, refresher training should be conducted for Class B removalists every 2 years.

Can Centrelink pay for my course?

Centrelink does not make payments directly to training organisations for participants’ courses. What you will have to do is register with a local job agency, your case worker will make the booking with us on your behalf as well as arrange payment.

Can I pay for my course in instalments?

All courses must be paid for in full either at the time of booking or at the time of registration. Our training course prices are extremely competitive and high quality. We aim to make them as affordable as possible while still providing superior training solutions.

After my course, can you find me work?

Unfortunately Edway Training does not provide recruitment services. The best places to look for employment are recruitment agencies and labour hire companies. There are a few job-searching websites (eg. Seek, Gumtree). Google Search for specific or general job roles (eg. labourer or traffic controller) is also a great source.

What if I struggle with English?

As per WorkSafe Victoria requirements a basic understanding in the reading and writing of English is required.

Unfortunately the use of interpreters and translators is not allowed and participants are required to complete assessments by themselves. A Statement of Attainment cannot be issued if the assessments are not successfully completed. If you are unsure of your level of English, we suggest you discuss it with the trainer prior to the start of the class. Our trainer can assess your level of English and advise it is sufficient to complete the course.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept VISA/Mastercard payments as well as EFTPOS or cash. We can invoice your company, however, this needs to be arranged prior to your course.

What is your cancellation policy?
