Important Update: Changes to Traffic Control Training.
With the introduction of the Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) training scheme, Edway Training has paused delivery of the RIIWHS205E course.
Instead, we now offer TTM courses approved by AUSTROADS and the Department of Transport and Planning Victoria (DoT). These courses are required to perform traffic control duties across various road categories.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
Are you experienced in traffic control and currently working in the industry? If so, our RPL (Recognised Prior Learning) program is perfect for you!
RPL allows individuals with prior experience and current employment in traffic control to gain their qualifications without needing to complete the full course. This pathway acknowledges your existing skills and work history, saving you time and effort.

Course CODE
Traffic Control training course is delivered and certificates are issued by Edway Training (RTO No 91401).
Edway Training is approved by the Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver this training course.
Traffic Control training course does not provide Traffic Management qualification. To obtain a Traffic Management qualification, a person is required to complete Traffic Management training to receive the ‘Implement Traffic Management Plan RIIWHS302D’’ qualification. Edway Training, with confirmation from the Victorian Government, will be offering limited training services onsite. This is to assist permitted work premises and permitted workers to obtain necessary qualifications, specifically in the areas of First Aid and Construction work.
All courses will follow strict COVID-19 precautions and requirements based on guidelines set out by the Victorian Government for permitted workplaces.

The course covers topics such as plan and prepare, control traffic, operate communication devices and clean up.
The class consists of Powerpoint presentation, videos, practical activities and end of the day practical and theory assessments
Edway VIC issued plastic white cards are regionally accepted all across Victoria.
Statement of Attainment is nationally recognised.
However, additional training might be required to perform Traffic Controller duties in different states. Please refer to the local authorities for more information.

From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a USI.
STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CANNOT BE ISSUED if a participant fails to produce a valid USI number.
USI can be obtained via www.usi.gov.au
Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary registration paperwork.
ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED if participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time.
To safely perform practical activities, participants are required to wear comfortable closed-in shoes.
THE TRAINER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY TO THE CLASS if appropriate shoes are not worn.
Basic level of understanding, reading and writing of English is required. Use of interpreters and translators is not allowed.
As part of our pre-training review all students are required to complete an LLN assessment to determine a student’s eligibility for enrolment into their selected course.
All students enrolling into any Edway Training course must have LLN skills to do simple calculations, understand English well enough to be able to read, write, and provide verbal responses to questions in English to undertake training and assessment in any of our courses.

Yes, this course needs to be refreshed every 3 years by completing a Traffic Control Refresher course, which we run once a month.
You will be awarded RIIWHS205D Control Traffic with a STOP/SLOW Bat on successful completion of the course. You will be issued with a statement of attainment and a plastic wallet sized card on the day of training.
Traffic Control training course covers topics such as: Safe use of a STOP/SLOW bat, directing traffic, operation of communication devices, setting up and packing down of traffic safety signs.
No, Traffic Control and Traffic Management are 2 separate courses, and need to be completed on 2 different days.
