Our Advanced Resuscitation Course in Sydney is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to react correctly in emergency situations in order to provide resuscitation.Whether partaking this course as a requirement for work or just as an average person who thinks it may come in handy one day, this course is suited to all levels of knowledge and previous experience.

This course supersedes the former qualification “HLTFA40C – Apply advanced Resuscitation Techniques.”This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively perform life-saving resuscitation via the use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) devices as well as other resuscitation techniques and mechanical resuscitation devices.

Advanced resuscitation covers the use of AED’s, the use Oxygen tanks and Oxygen administration, bag-valve CPR masks among other equipment.

This course also covers legislation and WH&S guidelines, to be sure that participants know and understand the legal consequences of their actions whilst conducting emergency advanced resuscitation.

The Advanced Resuscitation Course consists of:

  • Resuscitation techniques – including face mask
  • Use of AED (defibrillation machines)
  • Appropriate use of oxygen apparatus
  • Use of airways clearing equipment
  • Use of mechanical resuscitation equipment
  • Appropriate care of resuscitation equipment
  • Legal responsibilities
  • Paperwork required after an incident

Course Requirements

1. Current general First Aid Certificate

Although possession of a current HLTAID001 Provide CPR certificate is not a mandatory requirement, we strongly advise participants to complete the HLTAID001 training course prior to attending Advanced Resuscitation training.

2. Pre-study

Upon Enrolment, students will be given access to our online resources on the Training Aid Australia website. Participants must complete the online theory workbooks and submit a declaration online before arrival to the training venue. Failure to complete these workbooks will result in participants being refused entry into the training session.

3. Attendance

Participants are expected to arrive at the training venue 15 minutes before the course starts, so that general First Aid certificates can be sighted and IDs and payments can be checked. Failure to arrive at the very latest 15 minutes after the scheduled start time of the course will result in participants being refused entry.

4. Evidence of Identity

Participants must provide at least one form of valid identification (e.g. passport, driver’s license, proof of age card, student card etc.) on the day of training to be allowed entry into the course.

5. Basic understanding of the English Language

Participants must have a sound basic understanding of the English language in order to complete the course. The Trainer on the day reserves the right to refuse entry to any participants based on the outcome of the Language, literacy and Numeracy test which is available to all participants.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, and after being assessed as competent in all practical and theory based components, participants will receive a nationally accredited certificate & HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation, valid for 12 months.

Provide Advanced Resuscitation HLTAID007 training course is delivered and certificates are issued by one of our partner companies, Training Aid Australia.

Training Aid Australia is accredited by the Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver this training course.

Important USI Requirement

From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Students can use their USI to access their enrolment and achievement record from a single online source. The USI is made up of ten numbers and letters. A USI account will contain all of a student’s nationally recognised training records and results since 1 January 2015.


  • Edway Training will verify your USI before a certificate or statement can be issued.
  • You can apply for your USI after completing this registration process here

Can Centrelink pay for my course?

Centrelink does not make payments directly to training organisations for participants’ courses. What you will have to do is register with a local job agency, your case worker will make the booking with us on your behalf as well as arrange payment.

Can I pay for my course in instalments?

All courses must be paid for in full either at the time of booking or at the time of registration. Our training course prices are extremely competitive and high quality. We aim to make them as affordable as possible while still providing superior training solutions.

After my course, can you find me work?

We are closely tied with Edway Labour Hire, a recruitment company specialising in short term labour hire in the construction industry. If you are interested in applying, please see one of our friendly staff members.

What if I struggle with English?

For all our courses, a basic to intermediate understanding of the English language is required. Some courses allow the use of translators or interpreters, it is best to check the course requirements before making a booking. If we suspect you may struggle to understand the course content, you will be asked to complete an English test.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept VISA/Mastercard payments as well as EFTPOS or cash. We can invoice your company, however, this needs to be arranged prior to your course.

What is your cancellation policy?

Generally, we require 48 business hours notice in order to cancel a booking. Changes to class times are allowed, but not within 48 hours of the class commencing.
