Edway Training can process transfer of the old Victorian red card to the new WorkSafe VIC issued white card.

Upon successful completion of the Red Card to White Card transfer, participants will be:

  • Issued with Statement of Attainment (unit of competency: CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry) (which allows you to work immediately)
  • WorkSafe VIC issued Construction Induction plastic card (which will be mailed by WorkSafe Victoria within 60 days)

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Participants MUST bring original Red Card with readable red card numbers. Copies and unreadable cards are not accepted.

Red Card to White Card Transfer Details

Red Card to White Card Transfer Process

To complete a red card to white card transfer process, a person needs to provide original red card, 1 form of government issued ID and valid USI number (please see below requirements for more information).

Red Card to White Card transfer is a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Therefore, no training is required.

The transfer process paperwork takes around 30 minutes.

Unit of Competency

Upon successful completion of the Red Card to White Card transfer process, participants will be issued with the CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry Statement of Attainment.

White Card Information

WorkSafe VIC issued Construction Induction cards (white cards) are nationally recognised and accepted in every Australian state or territory.

Although White Cards do not have expiry date printed on them, if a person is out of the industry for 2 consecutive years, it is recommended by WorkSafe VIC to re-do the training to be compliant and have up-to-date safety information.

To get a replacement for a lost or stolen WorkSafe VIC issued white card, a person needs to contact WorkSafe VIC on 1300 852 562. The process takes around 10 business days and it’s free of charge.

Owner Builder Information:

To obtain Owner Builder licence through Victorian Building Association (VBA), a person will be required to have a WorkSafe VIC issued white card.

Please note that VBA accepts only plastic cards. Paper Statements of Attainment are not accepted.

IMPORTANT: Red Card Requirement

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CAN NOT BE ISSUED IF A PARTICIPANT FAILS TO PROVIDE ORIGINAL RED CARD

According to the WorkSafe VIC requirements, original red card needs to be presented. Please note that copies of the red card is not accepted.

Red card details (eg. name, red card number) must be visible and readable. If the red card information is not readable, the transfer can not be completed.

IMPORTANT: ID Requirement

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CAN NOT BE ISSUED IF A PARTICIPANT FAILS TO PROVIDE A VALID FORM OF ID

According to WorkSafe Victoria regulations, Edway Training is required to verify the identity of our participants. Participants need to provide one form of government issued I.D. which contain name, date of birth, and photo. Some example of valid forms of I.D. are:

  • Passport
  • Australian Driver’s License
  • Proof of age card
  • Student Card

IMPORTANT: USI Requirement

STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT CAN NOT BE ISSUED IF A PARTICIPANT FAILS TO PROVIDE A VALID USI NUMBER

From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

USI can be obtained via online application through USI portal https://www.usi.gov.au

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference made up of 10 numbers and letters. It creates a secure online record of student’s recognised training and qualification gained in Australia and allows to access training records and transcripts.
