Working in traffic control is a great career that also comes with certain requirements. In addition to taking the proper training to procure certification, you will also need to refresh your knowledge. So why are traffic controllers required to take the refresher course every three years?

Do Traffic Controllers Need to Take A Refresher Course?

In order to get certification as a traffic controller, you must first get Control Traffic with the Stop-Slow Bat RIIWHS205E training. You will then be given the Statement of Attainment that must be carried at all times.

It is important to note that your Traffic Controller certification is only valid for three years. The certification will need to be renewed before or soon after it expires. Traffic controllers are then expected to take the Refresher course so they can continue working.

You will need to meet certain requirements before you can take the training. You are expected to provide evidence of completion of your previous traffic control qualification. The best option is to bring your statement of attainment or the plastic card.

Note: your current traffic control qualification must be expired no more than 3 months prior to the renewal. If your certification has been expired more than 3 months, you will need to take the Traffic Control RIIWHS205E course.
