Allergic Reactions – Things To Remember

Things To Remember In Case Of Allergic Reactions

Allergies can be a minor annoyance for some people but others are not as fortunate. Several individuals can suffer from anaphylaxis which can be life-threatening if not treated immediately. This is why it is important to learn how to deal with allergic reactions as soon as possible.

People with severe allergies need to be prepared for any situation in case they are exposed to allergens. Here are a few things you need to remember if you experience anaphylaxis or a severe allergic reaction.

Be aware of the symptoms.

An allergic reaction is usually preceded by several symptoms like itching, difficulty in breathing, sneezing, watery eyes, a rash, or swelling in the mouth or throat. Remember that not all symptoms show up immediately and it is best to act as soon as at least one symptom becomes obvious.

Use the medication immediately.

People who suffer from anaphylaxis are advised to apply epinephrine as soon as symptoms occur. This is especially true when you are alone and are unable to get help right away.

Call Triple Zero 000 right away.

This should be one of the first things you should do in case of severe allergic reactions. The sooner you call, the sooner an ambulance can get to you and help.

Do not panic.

It is important to remain calm if you are suffering from anaphylaxis. Try to breathe deeply and evenly while waiting for the medication to work and for the ambulance to reach you.
