White Card Tasmania: Requirements, Cost & How Long It Takes

Starting a construction career in Tasmania? Obtaining a White Card is your non-negotiable first step. Whether you’re a tradie, site supervisor or surveyor, you’ll need to complete general construction induction training before setting foot on a worksite. Our White Card Tasmania course makes this process clear, convenient and compliant with WorkSafe TAS requirements.

The White Card proves that you understand key safety procedures and risk controls relevant to construction sites. In Tasmania, only Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) approved to deliver CPCWHS1001 ‘Prepare To Work Safely In The Construction Industry’ can issue valid certification. Edway Training is nationally accredited and fully authorised to deliver this course online to Tasmanian residents.

What You Need For A White Card In Tasmania

To apply for a White Card, you must first complete your construction induction training and receive a Statement of Attainment. This document confirms you’ve successfully completed the required training with an approved provider in Tasmania. You’ll then submit an application through Service Tasmania, including:

  • Your Statement of Attainment
  • A completed application form
  • Valid proof of ID
  • Payment of the applicable processing fee

Once submitted, Service Tasmania forwards your documents to WorkSafe TAS for final processing. If everything checks out, you’ll receive your White Card in the post, valid throughout Australia.

How Long Does It Take?

Our White Card TAS course is 100% online and self-paced. While some students complete it in just a day, others prefer to spread the modules out over several days. Once you’ve completed all the units, submitted the required demonstration videos and passed your assessment, your Statement of Attainment is issued within days. The faster you complete it, the faster you can apply for your White Card.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Edway Training online White Card course currently costs $49.00. This includes full access to our training portal, support throughout the course and the official Statement of Attainment. Keep in mind, you’ll also need to pay a separate fee to Service Tasmania when applying for the physical White Card.

Important Eligibility & Equipment Details

To complete the White Card TAS course, you must currently live in Tasmania and be able to prove your residency. You’ll also need:

  • A valid USI (Unique Student Identifier)
  • Access to a webcam and internet connection
  • Four types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, and hi-vis vest

These items are mandatory for the practical component, where you’ll demonstrate correct PPE usage via video or Zoom.
