Advanced First Aid Training Melbourne accreditation is becoming increasingly expected for employees handling incident and accident management. The training covers enhancing First Aid and CPR skills, and appropriate Emergency Procedures within both the workplace and wider community.

The Advanced First Aid Course Melbourne fills the gap between Basic First Aid and Professional Emergency Responders.


Edway Training, with confirmation from the Victorian Government, will be offering limited training services onsite. This is to assist permitted work premises and permitted workers to obtain necessary qualifications, specifically in the areas of First Aid and Construction work.

All courses will follow strict COVID-19 precautions and requirements based on guidelines set out by the Victorian Government for permitted workplaces.

These include;

  • Edway Training will abide by and have available at all times a COVIDSafe Plan
  • All Edway Training staff have completed COVID-19 Infection Control Training
  • Edway Training will offer hand sanitation stations in every classroom and at the entrance and exit of our building.
  • All staff and students will be required to sign a declaration that they are free of any signs or symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), and or close contact of anyone who has tested positive.
  • All student and staff are required to wear a facemask at all times.
  • All staff and students are required to have their temperature is taken prior to entry into classes.
  • All classes will be conducted abiding by the 4sqm and 1.5m social distancing guidelines.
  • Classes will have regular breaks every 2 hours.
  • Edway Training’s staff will sanitise all surfaces and high contact items such as door handles at each break and air the room during the break.
  • During breaks, student will be required to maintain social distancing and to spend as much of the break outside as possible.

Advanced First Aid Melbourne training covers both HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid and HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation accreditation.

The HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid component of this course supersedes the older HLTFA412A Apply Advanced First Aid qualification.

The HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation component of this course supersedes the older HLTFA404C Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques qualification.

Course Requirements

1. HLTAID003 First Aid Certificate

Although possession of a current HLTAID003 Provide First Aid certificate is not a mandatory requirement, we strongly advise participants to complete HLTAID003 training course prior to attending Advanced First Aid training.

2. Pre-study

After they have enrolled, participants will be asked to complete online theory workbooks and submit online declaration prior to the course.

If Edway Training does not receive either the completed workbooks or declaration, students will not be allowed to participate in the training.

3. Late Attendance

All students must be at the training venue at least 15 minutes prior to course starting time so First Aid certification and IDs can be sighted, and payments verified.

ENTRY TO THE COURSE WILL BE REFUSED if participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time.

Students, who arrive 20 minutes after the course is scheduled to start, will not be allowed to participate.

4. Evidence of Photo ID

Participants are required to provide a valid form of photo identification to be sighted before they can be admitted to the training. Some example of accepted forms of ID are passports, driver’s license, student cards and proof of age cards.

Participants without photo ID will not be issued with the statement of attainment.

5. English Language

All students must have good English communication skills and have sufficient numeracy abilities. If you are unsure whether you have the required skills, Edway Training can provide you with a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test.

The trainer reserves the right to refuse entry to the course based on the outcome of the Language, Literacy and Numeracy test.

6. Be Physically Mobile

To be successful as an Advanced First Aider a competent level of mobility is required.

Course Outcomes

All students who are assessed as having competently completed the practical hands-on and written components of the assessment will be awarded nationally accredited certification for:

  • HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid (valid for 3 years)
  • HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation (valid for 1 year)

Training Aid Australia is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO No 91411) which has been delivering First Aid courses around Australia for close to a decade. As one of the very few companies nationwide who offers this course, Training Aid Australia takes pride in delivering top-quality training sessions, with trainers who each have multiple decades of relevant industry experience.

Training Aid Australia is accredited by Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) to deliver this training course.

Important USI Requirement

From 1 January 2015, every student who undertakes nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Students can use their USI to access their enrolment and achievement record from a single online source. The USI is made up of ten numbers and letters. A USI account will contain all of a student’s nationally recognised training records and results since 1 January 2015.

Can Centrelink pay for my course?

Centrelink does not make payments directly to training organisations for participants’ courses. What you will have to do is register with a local job agency, your case worker will make the booking with us on your behalf as well as arrange payment.

Can I pay for my course in instalments?

All courses must be paid for in full either at the time of booking or at the time of registration. Our training course prices are extremely competitive and high quality. We aim to make them as affordable as possible while still providing superior training solutions.

After my course, can you find me work?

We are closely tied with Edway Labour Hire, a recruitment company specialising in short term labour hire in the construction industry. If you are interested in applying, please see one of our friendly staff members.

What if I struggle with English?

For all our courses, a basic to intermediate understanding of the English language is required. Some courses allow the use of translators or interpreters, it is best to check the course requirements before making a booking. If we suspect you may struggle to understand the course content, you will be asked to complete an English test.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept VISA/Mastercard payments as well as EFTPOS or cash. We can invoice your company, however, this needs to be arranged prior to your course.

What is your cancellation policy?

Generally, we require 48 business hours notice in order to cancel a booking. Changes to class times are allowed, but not within 48 hours of the class commencing.
